TEACHING, WORKSHOPS & RESIDENCIES

3/09 – 6/08 Mural Workshop Instructor, Oakland School for the Arts, Oakland: Instructed advanced high school art students in creating a mural design that was painted on wall of Fox Courts Apartments.
1/09 – 4/08 Art Instructor, Oakland High School & Oakland Museum of CA: Instructed two classes on a multimedia art project which culminated in a student exhibit at the Oakland Museum of CA.
9/07 – 6/08 Instructor, Museum of Children’s Art, Fruitvale Elementary, Oakland: Currently teaching a visual arts based after-school program for 1st–5th graders in conjunction with performance based classes led by Oakland Youth Chorus.
Jan 2007 Instructor, Chicano Visions Exhibit Family Day, de Young Museum, SF: Taught an all-day art workshop for families visiting the Chicano Visions Exhibit at the newly opened de Young Museum in San Francisco.
6/07 – 7/07 Instructor, California College for the Arts, Oakland, CA: Taught a multi-disciplinary class on Community Arts as part of CCA’s Pre-College program, emphasizing community outreach, critical thinking, and collaborative art practices.
10/05 – 6/06 Instructor/Exhibitor, Young Artists At Work, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, SF: Taught an Art as Activism class with the YAAW program where selected high school students receive a stipend to learn about the California art experience. Project culminated with an exhibit and installation in the YBCA Galleries.
2005 & 2006 Mural Instructor, Destiny Arts Center, Oakland, CA: Taught a mural class and art activities for students of Destiny Arts. Created mural series that expressed children’s feelings about out Earth’s natural elements.
9/2004 Artist in Residence, Arizona State University: Co-presented with Sean Nash. Lectured Chicano Studies classes on Contemporary Art Theory, and Chicano Art History. Conducted printmaking workshop for Pop Culture class.
3/2001 Workshop Leader, Oakland Museum of CA: Coordinated youth mural for 1st Annual Cesar Chavez Community celebration. Conducted youth workshop on Aztec calendar. Co-designed a workbook to accompany mural, which is currently on tour throughout California.
6/2000 Workshop Leader, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art: Lead Family Exploration workshop with Sean Nash on introduction to art appreciation and basic art skill building.
